The Obsidian Opera Company presents The Barber of Seville in English. This comic two act opera, one of the funniest ever written, is a musical masterpiece composed by Gioacchino Rossini.

With her warm rich voice and graceful stage presence, Obsidian Opera is proud to bring mezzo-soprano Sarah Mattox, rising opera star and Central Oregon native, back home to the Tower Theatre stage. An outstanding cast directed by Brenda Nuckton and the always delightful Obsidian Opera Orchestra conducted by Michael Gesme will bring this wildly funny, energetic opera to life. An extraordinary set and gorgeous costumes will complete the experience for something rarely found on a Central Oregon stage.

The one-two: Count Almaviva employs the vivid imagination and wily ways of the barber Figaro in order to win the love, devotion and hand of the beautiful Rosina, whose life is currently under the direction of her guardian, Doctor Bartolo who has a decidedly different groom in mind for Rosina.

No deaths. No evil doings. No underhanded betrayals (well, not any that are undeserved). No unrequited love. The boy gets the girl, and the girl gets the boy, but they have to work really hard for it! Lots of laughs combined with beautiful music make for a grand night out at the theatre.

 Five performances only.

Doors open one hour before curtain.

What to Wear...What to Wear
Lobby-watchers often report that more costumes are found off-stage than on. For some, it's suits and dresses. but you'll also find many who prefer something a bit more casual. Suit yourself on this one.
